Paros: is a charming island in the Cyclades near Mykonos and Santorini.

Public transfers: is located at the main port of Paros (Parikia). You can visit most areas of the island with local buses, which are very cheap. Time schedules change according to the season and might not always be on time. Check the official timetables here.

From Paros airport to Parikia: There is a bus station at the airport to Parikia village, which is 10,7 km far away.

Tip: Inform the bus driver about the place you want to go in order to stop at this place as buses don’t always stop at every scheduled stop of their itinerary.

Best Places

 

Parikia Town (also called Paros Town or Chora): It is the capital with the central port, the commercial and cultural center of Paros.

If you come to Paros by boat it is the port you will get off at. Parikia Town has cobble-stoned streets, Cycladic architecture with the familiar white houses and brilliant pink bougainvillea. The port has a long promenade that stretches right around to Livadia beach where you can find good restaurants and bars. Many shops there are on the Main Street where you can buy anything that you need from clothing, shoes, jewelry and more. Nearby the port you can take the city bus and visit other famous parts of the island like Naousa. You can also take the ferry to Antiparos only 10′ far which is a must. One of the town’s tourist spots is the 4th century church complex, the Church of 100 Doors or Panagia Ekatontapyliani. Behind that church is also located the archaeological museum with findings from Neolithic and Roman periods. At the top of the old town the other highlights of Parikia town are the Frankish Castle and the remains of the 6th century Temple Of Athena. In the church of Constantine has been placed what remains of the temple of Athena. Of course, at this point, the visit is more to admire the panoramic view offered by the site.

 

Lefkes: A traditional village with a panoramic view, you can pay a visit there to have a meal at the beautiful taverns. You have to park outside of the village your car and go walking into it as the cars are not allowed.

 

Naoussa Village: is a very picturesque tourist village of Paros, the most famous with a vibrant nightlife. The most ”in” part is the harbor, where you will find many nice restaurants and bars.

Although few parts of it are left, it is worth visiting the Venetian Castle, which is one of the most photographed spots on the island, especially at sunset. Naoussa has two beautiful beaches, these are on one side Piperi beach and the other beach is the long sandy beach of Agioi Anargyroi. Piperi beach is not organized but there are some umbrellas and sunbeds but these are for hotel’s guests, as is located above Piperi.

From the port of Naoussa you can visit famous beaches without having to rent a car but with one of the offered boats with frequent routes to visit famous beaches such as οπως Kolymbithres and Monastiri beach.

Best Beaches

Kolymbithres Beach: is located in the huge bay of Naousa. In Kolymbithres Beach there are a few beach bars and taverns and watersports are also available there. Is known for its unique rock formations, and the Church of Ekatontapiliani which has a rich history. The sunbeds there are a bit more expensive than normal.

How to go there: By car, local bus or by small fishing boats (caiques) which depart from the port of Naoussa.

 

Santa Maria Beach: Near Naousa village 4km far is one of the best beaches in Greece under the name of Santa Maria. This is an amazing beach with crystal waters, a view of Naxos island and a sandy paradise with a beach bar.

 

Piso Livadi: It is a small beach special for families with a lot of small boats and taverns, bars and shops on the beach.

 

Marathi: is a village a few kilometers away from Parikia with picturesque narrow streets, nice taverns and some hotels.
