Kassandra Chalkidki
Summary:
Halkidiki and specifically Stagira is the place where the great Greek philosopher Aristotle was born. Halkidiki is known for its exotic beaches with clear turquoise sea waters and wild vegetation from its forests. It is located in northern Greece in Macedonia and is very close to the second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki, about 50 km away.
It is a peninsula divided into three smaller peninsulas. The first leg is called Kassandria, about which I will have more information in this article, the second is called Sithonia and the third is Mount Athos, the independent famous state ‘’Agio Oros’’ which is a closed Orthodox monastic community . The first one is the most crowded, with cosmopolitan tourist resorts, the second one is more quiet and popular among campers and the third can only be accessed by male travelers under permission.
Here you will find a travel guide regarding all the things you need to know for Chalkidiki’s top things to do, places to visit, hotels and villas to stay, transfer services, car rentals, restaurants etc.
Kassandria or Kassandra is the place where there are more people, and hotels, small and bigger resorts, rental rooms, villas, restaurants and beach bars. In general it is the most developed leg. Here you will also find a vibrant nightlife with the clubs located in the village of Kallithea. It is a summer destination suitable for families as the seas are shallow, there are many activities and places for children to play and harmonize with nature. Everybody here can enjoy the summer, the sun and the sea in privacy or in a busy place.
